Basic (French) White Wine Vinegar Dressing

My family learned this recipe while staying with a family outside of Lyon, France. The measurements are less than precise, but that allows each chef to adjust to preferred taste.

You will need:

    vegetable oil
    white wine vinegar
    fresh garlic

Pour about 1/2 cup of oil into bottom of salad bowl. Slowly add vinegar, mixing with a fork until you like the ratio. Add one to four cloves of thinly diced garlic – it all depends on how much you love garlic, and what kind you are using. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
